While this is not a craft beer, i thought id give it a review (i will review all beers, out of fairness). This is a budget beer, from Aldi, produced by another brewery using a different branding. Either the recipe or brewery has changed recently as the taste and aroma and body of the beer has dramatically changed. i am reviewing the newer version.

On the Can:

"Refreshingly Excellent"

The Beer:

Pours to a just over 2 finger head, which dissipates fast. (within a minute) granted i do not have it in a head-keeper glass.

The beer is the amber colour of most large batch lagers with a medium to high carbonation.

Aroma:

Metallic smell, with the very tiniest smell of hops. Other than that, not much aroma, much like many lagers of this variety.

Taste.

Slightly metallic tasting, akin to a Carling, but with less body. feels watery in the mouth and on the tongue. The older version tasted more akin to Carlsberg.
Other than the metallic taste you get a tiny amount of hop taste and sugary sweetness, but no depth to it, no real definitive taste to talk about

In Conclusion:

This is what i would call a BBQ beer, or a party beer, its the kind of lager or beer you would take to a party or a BBQ where everyone is sharing, but no one really likes craft beer, its cheap, inoffensive and doesn't really taste of owt, but on a hot day if chilled would still be refreshing, if very unsatisfying.

Rating 4/10

A cold lager to share with guests on a hot day, but not worth buying to drink for any depth or taste. There is no taste and next to no aroma, so it cant be called bad, or good, it just simply exists

  3. I'd say it was more of a Carlsberg. Tried it for the first time today, it's okay. I'd give it a 6 if really cold.

  8. Tried it for the first time today. It was exactly what I wanted. A no nonsense refreshing lager at my preferred strength _ 4.o% ab. I usually drink real ales, but this price could seduce me to drink more lager! An easy 7 or 8.

  20. Not a bad lager as lagers go. Price probably makes it taste better than it is but all in all a good buy..
